Seeing a great need to help management teams better understand the nuances and details of the IPO process, Lise founded the Class V Group to leverage her uniquely informed perspective on the equity markets, gained from having first-hand experience as an institutional investor, investment banker, venture capitalist, board member and internal IPO coordinator/employee.
Previously, Ms Buyer was the Director of Business Optimization for Google Inc. where she was one of the chief architects of the company’s innovative IPO and as a result, a recipient of a Google Founders’Award, the highest employee accolade, given to those who have made extraordinary entrepreneurial contributions to the company. Before making the leap to the corporate side, she had a long career in the investment industry, including years as a buy side investor, sell side analyst and as a venture capitalist. Earlier in her career, she was Director of the Internet/New Media research practice for Credit Suisse First Boston, during which time the quality of her research was ranked #1 in the prestigious Greenwich Associates poll.
Lise came to the investment banking world as an institutional investor from T.Rowe Price Associates, where she was responsible for the firms’ investments in desktop technology and on the investment committee of firm’s Science and Technology Fund, consistently one of the top performing technology mutual funds at that time. She began her career on Wall Street as an analyst of both the technology and entertainment industries. Ms Buyer was Chairman of the Independent Directors and of the M&A Committee of the Board for Greenfield Online (NASDAQ: SRVY) until it was acquired by Microsoft. She is a Trustee of the Nichols School, a past Fellow of the Davos World Economic Forum and recipient of a 2012 Silicon Vally Women of Influence award. She holds a BA from Wellesley College and an MBA from Vanderbilt University's Owen School of Management.
Prior to joining Class V Group in 2013, Leslie spent 17 years building relationships with top institutional investors and leading the sale of technology equity transactions including hundreds of IPOs in the public markets. Leslie’s Technology sales team was the #1 Technology sales team in the II All-American poll.
Leslie was a member of the Equity Commitment Committees at both Deutsche Bank and Credit Suisse, and was particularly lauded for her insight into investor sentiment and process for institutions of all sizes. In addition to selling IPOs and follow-on offerings, Leslie was responsible for the aftermarket sales and trading support of technology companies on Wall Street and has repeatedly demonstrated her effectiveness in repositioning public companies, strategically expanding their institutional shareholder base and implementing action plans to expand research coverage, in an effort to increase liquidity and improve valuation and access to capital. Leslie brings her unbiased market perspective, deep institutional relationships as well as an insider’s knowledge of the underwriting syndicate process to the companies Class V Group advises.
Prior leading sales teams and selling technology stocks and IPOs, Leslie was an investment banker and a securities attorney where she worked on transactions including Leveraged Buyouts, M&A, spin outs, restructurings and financings across the capital structure. Prior to Wall Street, Leslie worked as a certified public accountant conducting audits for E & Y. Leslie's combination of public market and capital markets expertise, investment banking, securities law and accounting experience is unique and enables her to provide value to management teams across multiple disciplines. Leslie holds an M.B.A. & J.D. with honors from the University of North Carolina and graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Maryland. She is a member of the Georgia Bar Association, the AICPA and the Maryland Board of Public Accountancy.
